Overview of Education, Experience and Credentials

We are looking for candidates who bring the following experience, skills, and attributes to the role of Chef at Sima Japanese Restaurant:

Experience:

  • 2 to less than 3 years of experience in a similar culinary role
  • Experience with Japanese cuisine is required

Education:

  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Skills and Attributes:

  • Proven ability to lead kitchen staff and coordinate operations
  • Creativity in menu planning and recipe development
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and cost management
  • Team player with a proactive and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to quality

Chef – Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Chef at Sima Japanese Restaurant, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Estimating quantity and costs of supplies and food items
  • Planning menus and ensuring quality standards
  • Preparing and cooking complete meals and specialty Japanese dishes
  • Supervising sous-chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff
  • Creating new recipes and contributing to event catering such as banquets
  • Analyzing operating costs and maintaining inventory and consumption records
  • Overseeing food preparation and directing multiple kitchen operations

Additional Information

This is an on-site, physically demanding position that involves standing for extended periods and working during peak hours, including weekends and holidays. A commitment to teamwork and culinary excellence is essential.
