Important: Employee housing is provided on-site only. No drive-in options are available. Accommodation may be shared or private, depending on availability. Pets are not permitted.

GENERAL LABOURER – TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful applicants will assist with:

  • Farm maintenance (clean-up, grounds upkeep, repair, and development tasks)
  • Supporting trades (repairs of farm structures, equipment, and supplies management)
  • Cleaning and organizing farm equipment and work areas
  • Feeding animals, setting up break fences, and handling livestock appropriately
  • Weed control programs, pasture walks, and crop/pasture renovation tasks
  • Learning to milk in the dairy shed and assisting with stock handling
  • Operating farm machinery such as tractors, irrigation systems, and hand tools
  • Quality control of feed, hygiene checks, and supporting dispatch tasks
  • Maintaining documentation and animal health/treatment records
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and farm regulations
  • Communicating effectively with managers and team members
  • Following health and safety standards at all times

OVERVIEW OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIALS

Applicants must:

  • Be physically fit and able to handle outdoor labour tasks
  • Hold a valid driver licence
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and have no criminal record
  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand (valid visa or NZ citizenship/residency)

No prior farm experience is required – full training is provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

  • Supporting daily farm operations across maintenance, animal care, and equipment use
  • Following farm standards for cleanliness, safety, and quality
  • Carrying out landscaping and pasture care (mowing, planting, pruning)
  • Handling livestock when required (moving, milking, feeding)
  • Assisting with materials handling, loading/unloading, and general labour tasks
  • Reporting any risks, safety issues, or animal health concerns to the farm manager
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment
