Overview of Education, Specialization, and Credentials Required for the Job
HEALTH NEW ZEALAND – TE WHATU ORA WAITEMATĀ is looking for candidates who fulfill the following criteria.
Languages: English (required)
Education: NZQA Level 3 National Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (or equivalent)
Experience: Previous healthcare or health-related experience preferred
Skills:
- Understanding of patient health issues and the needs of their whānau
- Awareness of health equity and culturally responsive care
- Physical stamina for long periods of standing and patient care
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Health Care Assistant – Transitional Lounge, your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting Registered Nurses with personal care tasks
- Supporting patients with daily living activities
- Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene within the ward
- Organizing and restocking medical supplies and equipment
- Responding to patient queries and assisting with mobility
- Making beds, preparing patients for meals, and monitoring intake/output
- Maintaining patient dignity, comfort, and safety at all times
