Panel Beater and Painter – Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Panel Beater and Painter, you will support our workshop team with the repair, preparation, and finishing of used vehicles to ensure high-quality presentation for resale. Key responsibilities include:
- Panel preparation including sanding, masking, and paint color selection
- Applying primer, paint coats, and touch-ups using spray-guns
- Polishing, waxing, and finishing paintwork
- Surface treatment with rust-proofing products
- Panel removal and reinstallation
- Hammering, filing, grinding, and sanding damaged vehicle sections
- Replacing panels with new or second-hand parts as needed
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety-compliant workspace
Overview of Language, Education, Experience and Credentials
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in automotive panel beating and painting
- Trade qualification in automotive body repair (or equivalent experience)
- Proficient with spray booth equipment and painting techniques
- Skilled in assessing and repairing vehicle damage
Skills and Attributes:
- Physically fit and able to handle hands-on workshop tasks
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including weekends
- Must hold a valid full driver’s licence
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug test
