Milking Assistants needed in NZ
GAVINS Limited is looking for experienced Milking Assistants to join its dairy goat farming team in Taupiri, Waikato, New Zealand. This is a full-time opportunity for reliable and physically capable farm workers who are comfortable working with animals, following milking procedures and contributing to the smooth operation of a modern dairy goat farm.
The successful candidates will work as part of a seven-person milking team responsible for milking approximately 3,000 goats through a modern rotary shed. The role includes milking, teat spraying, washdown and plant cleaning, monitoring animal health, maintaining milk quality records and assisting with general farm duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Milking Assistant at GAVINS Limited, you will be responsible for helping operate the dairy goat milking shed efficiently while maintaining high standards of animal welfare, hygiene and milk quality.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Milking approximately 3,000 goats through a modern rotary milking shed.
- Cupping milking units on and off correctly.
- Applying teat spray as part of the milking process.
- Keeping the milking operation running efficiently and according to schedule.
- Carrying out washdown duties after milking.
- Cleaning the milking plant and shed thoroughly.
- Leaving the shed clean, organized and ready for the next milking.
- Monitoring goats during the milking process.
- Identifying lame, sick or unusual-looking animals.
- Reporting signs of illness or potential mastitis promptly.
- Drafting animals as required.
- Maintaining accurate farm and animal records.
- Supporting milk quality and hygiene standards.
- Assisting with general farm duties when required.
- Helping with animal feeding and other farm tasks.
- Supporting kid rearing during the kidding season.
- Following animal welfare, workplace safety and farm procedures.
- Working cooperatively with other members of the farm team.

OVERVIEW OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND CREDENTIAL
This position is suited to a practical and dependable farm worker with previous milking experience who enjoys working with animals and is comfortable with the routine and physical demands of dairy farming.
